2018, you’ve been great

02/01/2019

A Royal wedding, World Cup, Nike’s controversial adverts, Elon Musk taking to twitter, GDPR, self-destructing Banksy art, The beast from the East, love island, Harry Redknapp claiming king of the jungle, a long summer, and the Gatwick drone. 2018 has sure been a whirlwind and throughout these last 12 months we’ve had a great time, so read on for everything that we’ve been up to in the last year.

January

Our Group Marketing Manager, Jeremy Graham, started off the year by becoming a dad! Jeremy welcomed a playful chocolate Labrador to his family. Let us introduce you to Benji:

February

In February we collaborated with BioCote to produce medical bags that incorporated Antimicrobial technology. Be sure to check out the range, here

March

March saw Versapak Doping Control attend the World Anti-Doping Authority’s symposium in Lausanne, Switzerland. We also unveiled our latest Doping kits although we have plenty more to come in  2019, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

April

Our new doping control kit launched in April. Whilst Versapak Doping Control started in 1987 and has helped many athletes with a wide variety of events, Versapak International, the original company within the Versapak group umbrella, celebrated 45 years of service.

May

In May, our very own Fabio de Jesus tied the knot and got married in Iznajar, Spain. Congrats, Fabs!

June

June saw Versapak appoint Dominic Burt as their Marketing Executive. Fresh out of Bournemouth University, he graduated at the beginning of the month and joined on the 18th after a well-earned short (but sweet) break.

July

In July we celebrated 70 years of the NHS and looked forward to another 70.

August

Mick joined the Versapak team in August as Warehouse manager and landed on his feet running as he helped the UK team with their annual stock-take.

September

Laura Woodford from the accounts team celebrated her 21st Birthday in September.

Versapak also successfully transitioned to ISO 9001:2015.

October

In October we learnt that Vicky Sharrock was going to be having a baby! A HUGE congratulations Vicky! We later learnt in December that Vicky will be having a boy. Everyone at Versapak is incredibly happy for you, Vicky.

November

We think the better question would be: what DIDN’T we do in November? Staff from the UK office celebrated their summer party (albeit belated!) at a local curry house with a few bottles of red wine.

We also exhibited at the Anti-Counterfeit and Currency expo  in Las Vegas with our Secure Cash products

Versapak Doping Control were lucky enough to be featured in a documentary with Japanese broadcaster, NHK. Our Chairman, Ian Anderson and Business Exports Manager, Fabio de Jesus, had great discussions.

Finally, on 11/11, all of us took a minutes silence to remember the fallen although it was only 1 individual who were lucky enough to walk in the people’s procession to mark the 100 years centenary since WW1. Versapak’s Ruth Kemp represented her relatives who gave up their today’s for our tomorrow. We will remember them.

December

For the final month of 2018 we exhibited at both VOW’s green Light event and the CIPD procurement show in Manchester.

We also commended Anita who celebrated 40 years of service with the Versapak Group

And that was our 2018, wrapped! The year that we became VERY environmentally conscious, addressing the asterisk, Oxo-Biodegradable plastic, Recycling week and world environment day as well as changing a difference to many lives with our Red Bag Scheme. Overall, we had a great year and look forward to seeing what awaits us in 2019!
